WACO UPF-7 WHICH CARRIES TWO PASSENGERS OR IN THE CLOSED CABIN WACO UKC-S WHICH
CARRIES THREE PASSENGERS. WE DON'T FLY IN THE RAIN OR WHEN THERE IS A STRONG
CROSS-WIND*, BUT TEMPERATURES DON'T BOTHER US. WE HAVE THE CLOTHING IF YOU HAVE
THE MOTIVATION TO FLY IN THE OPEN COCKPIT BIPLANE ANYTIME. HOWEVER DON'T PASS UP
A BEAUTIFUL WINTER FLIGHT IN COLD CLEAR CONDITIONS IN OUR 1935 CABIN WACO. IT'S
HEATED TOO! WE WILL FLY WEEKDAYS BY APPOINTMENT BETWEEN NOON AND DUSK.
Try to call us a day in advance if you are hoping
to fly. Both open cockpit and Cabin Biplane configurations are available.
*VFR Flight Conditions. We require a ceiling of 2000 feet and
winds that are down the runway within 45 degrees. We cannot operate with a 90
degree crosswind or winds greater than 10 mph.

Olde Thyme Aviation operates scenic
airplane flights in authentic restored original antique airplanes at the famous
Museum of Flight located at Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington. The planes used
in these rides have a history ranging from 1927 to 1944 and are from a private
collection kept in the Seattle region in constant airworthiness condition. The
five planes currently flying at the Museum include 1 Travel Air (1927), 2 Waco
UPF-7s (1940 & 1942), 1 Stearman Kaydet (1944 PT-17 Army), and 1 Cabin Waco 1935
UKC-S.
Olde Thyme Aviation ® operates scenic rides on weekends when VFR flying
conditions exist adjacent to the back parking lot behind the Museum of Flight
right next to the B-17 which is on display beyond the nose of the former Air
Force One. We operate during regular museum hours of 10-5. On days
when it is cloudy, we wait to see if we can fly up until 12:00 o'clock. If we
cannot get set up by this time, then we usually go about other things. However,
whenever VFR conditions allow, we are set up by 10:00 AM.
| We operate on a
"first come, first served basis." We cannot take reservations in
advance other than the day you wish to fly. Persons can
certainly come up earlier in the day and make paid reservation
for a ride later in the day, however, we cannot reserve space at
the museum greater than beyond the date you wish to fly. |

If you wish to fly during the week, we urge you to look at
our "Gift Certificate" program. Persons purchasing or holding gift certificates
will be accommodated at the Museum of Flight as weather allows during the week. Gift certificates are also very useable
at the Museum of Flight on the weekends however they do offer the advantage of
possibly making weekday arrangements for individual rides as well.
All open cockpit biplanes except for the Stearmans carry two passengers
in the front seat at the same time. The Stearmans are narrower and were
certified for only one passenger. Costs of the rides are still the same
regardless if one or two people fly due to the fact that engine time, wear and
tear and fuel are still the same whether one or two are flying.
There is a weight limitation of 350lbs when carrying two passengers. We cannot
break this rule! The Cabin Wacos carry three passengers; however, total
weight of all three passengers cannot exceed 500 lbs.
All rides operate in and around the Puget Sound region such that we
cannot climb to high enough altitudes to perform aerobatics. A 3,500' altitude
is required and also that parachutes be worn. Since we cannot get higher than
2,800 ' on any of our "tours," we cannot offer aerobatic rides. Also, all
rides are rides only and we do not offer any "stick" time regardless of prior
experience.
All passengers are "dressed" in old time barnstorming regalia from the
leather jacket to goggles and cloth helmet. You need not worry about wearing
extra clothing. Regular outdoor clothing of the type you'd go to a
ball game is suitable plus soft soled shoes like sneakers.

At the end of each ride, passengers are given
a "certificate" showing the type of aircraft they have flown in with
its history on the back. For our own enjoyment, we often "rotate"
the planes each weekend so that sometimes we'll have one Travel Air
and one Waco on site; or other times we may have one Waco UPF-7 and
one Stearman N2S-4. In the fall and winter, we often start to phase
in our closed Cabin Waco YKS-6 or bring the Stearman along with one
of the other open cockpit planes.

All rides flown at the Museum of Flight
result in a donation being made to the Museum of Flight's general fund of
approximately 8.5% of the cost of your ride. We are glad to help play a role in
the furthering of what the Museum of Flight has done to elevate the awareness of
historical aircraft to our passengers.
What happens when it gets cold or winter comes? We simply switch to the
use of our 1936 and 1937 Cabin Wacos (See Airplanes) which give you all
the same excitement of the historic biplane ride but keeps the elements off of
you in the rain or icy chill. Plus, they carry one more extra passenger at no
extra charge!

Fall/Winter Flights
Our fall and winter flights continue to grow in popularity. We can
generally continue flying the open cockpit airplanes up until the
strong windy weather in November. We have warm gloves to go with our
snug leather jackets with fur collars and helmets. Flying around the
region with the turning colors of the trees is incredible. Don't
miss it!
Once the winter weather comes about, rides by appointment or on the
weekends in our 1935 Award Winning Cabin Waco are beautiful.
Whenever a high pressure system interrupts the winter weather
pattern, we usually get two or three days of crystal clear weather
with snow on the mountains in all directions. It's breathtaking!
Remember this plane caries 3 passengers for the same price as 2 in
the open cockpit airplane. Windows roll down for those that want a
bit of the winter temperatures or wish to stick a camera lens
outside. Headphones provide stereo 1930s and 1940s Big Band Music.
Weekday flights during this time are by appointment preferably a day
in advance, although sometimes we can scamper down to the field on
short notice (1 hour) if we're not too far away.
